Description
'The Fortune Loop' is an interactive installation designed to spread wisdom, positivity, and connectedness. It operates through the simultaneous exchange of received and given fortunes.
Rationale
The goal was to devise a system that would engage users, encouraging interaction and potential sharing on social media.
The process involves three steps: (1) Users pull a fortune from one of the 50 pockets. (2) They then select a new fortune from the 'Take Me' envelope and write someone else a fortune using the specific prompt provided on the card. (3) Finally, they place it back into the empty pocket from which they initially pulled their fortune, creating a regenerating system.
The installation comprises three main components: (1) 50 pockets with initial fortunes, (2) a 'Take Me' envelope with over 30 new prompts, and (3) a poster providing clear instructions on the process. Additionally, a dedicated Instagram account, @thefortuneloop, was created for users to share their experiences. Over the first three days of setup, more than 15 story tags were received. I also generated posts advertising and explaining the installation on the Instagram account, where more details can be explored.
