Description

Creating a set of 5 booklets that blend aspects of flowers and cocktails into a concoction titled 'Abstract Bouquet,' inspired by Floriography, the secret language of flowers used during the Victorian era.

Rationale

A commonality between my subjects was their layered components, as well as their ability to send or embody a ‘message’ through their strong innate meaning.

The result is a set of 5 booklets each titled with a specific message, given meaning through an ‘Abstract Bouquet’ which in this case is a choice of a cocktail and curation of flowers each expressing the sentiment of the message trying to be transmitted. The idea is that when receiving the ‘Abstract Bouquet’ the user can decode the message intended to them by the sender just by analyzing the visual layered components at hand.  The booklets are composed of layered vellum sheets each containing a hand-drawn illustration of the broken down components of the bouquet, both the ingredients of the cocktail and the choice of flowers.
